I'm sure this is one of the few vehicle regulations that every cop knows. Like, you have to wear a helmet....
That said, it is far more subjective than wearing a helmet or not, and a cop behind you not looking for something to pull you over for may not notice.
And regarding the "worth it cause of what I save before I get caught", probably true as I reckon most cops who have a go at you for it will tell you it's not road worthy, and give you a canary or something, or a minor fine for a "plate not legible" or something. But if you get a real prick who stings you for "avoiding speed detection devices", you may find yourself in deep poo. Although, I still haven't heard of anyone getting hit with this one (max penalty somewhere in '000s...) a cop would have to have a real beef ... <i></i>
