CHANGING THE DAMPNER OIL to increase stability, make wheelies alot smoother and THE BEST OF ALL PREVENT A TANK SLAPPER!
Tools needed:
6mm Allen wrench
14mm Socket
14mm open end wrench
Oil of YOUR choice.
Remove the dampner
Now remove the torx screw It's a #10 bit. A #15 will work but keep alot of pressure on the driver, carefull NOT to twist/strip out the driver/screw
Drain the oil out of the dampner as MUCH as possible
Cut the top off a small plastic water bottle or soda bottle and
Dry the bottle out completely...
Fill bottom half of the bottle with NEW oil
Submerge the dampner in the oil using long strokes (STOP IT), pump the new oil into the dampner. Keep going until you get no air bubbles in the oil. Then take a break and resubmerge it to continue filling.
You think you got ALL the Air out of the Dampner???
Know how to tell???
Simple.. Move the shaft in the dampner, if it feels like you can easily move it side to side, in a short distance with NO resistance, YOU STILL HAVE AIR IN IT! Keep filling.
When complete lay it flat as above and reinstall the screw. Move the shaft and check for smoothness.
Do it AGAIN, till it is a COMPLETELY silky smooth, linear resistive force from one END to the other END of the shaft's travel.
Put the screw back in and NOW REINSTALL.
