that's the exact problem! They seem flexible enough, but like copper tube or a drinking straw, once bent too far they "crimp" on the side of the bend and remain permanently deformed (you can't see this because of the braid).
And just like copper tube, they will leak at that point.
Teflon Racing Hose has the following maximum bend radii:
1/4" hose = 1.50" bend radius
1/3" hose = 2.00" bend radius
1/2" hose = 4.00" bend radius
3/4" hose = 5.25" bend radius
