G'day
So looking at all the threads on tyre longevity, I decided to look back over my 'Bus maintenance diaries. All distances are for rear tyre only, coz so often the rule has bin 2 rear to 1 front.
So starting with the 99 I used
D207 6908km
ditto 7062
ditto 4804
D208 3067 mostly quick and 2 up
ditto 7216
Metzeler 3643 but ended by puncture
ditto 5392
ditto 7318
D208 7230
D207 3197
ditto 5442
Bridgestone 014 7377
ditto 6837
D208 9655
Pirelli S Corsa 5882
D208 4541
ditto 5517
Dunlop qualifier 4848
ditto 5057
Metzeler M3 3515 and this one is still going
And on the '06
original Bridgestone 4171
Bridgestone B014 4772
Michelin Pilot Power 23705 and replaced as a pair
Michelin Pilot Road 4 15665 getting a bit worn but ended by accident also replaced as a pair
So you could argue that the tyre compounds are wearing better these days or that I am getting slower or that Michelin have always worn better.
Dunno why I didn't try Michelin a decade ago. Must not have thought them a good thing...
Dunno, but grip has always been more important to me than tyre life.
Make of it what you will :-)
