When I bought the Busa I also bought a Shoei ($700 worth) Turns out that it is more of a race helmet. Great ventilation but is like riding in a force nine gale as far as noise goes!
I also now own a $120 RJay and that has cut noise down by at least 40%. But I still wear plugs on long trips.
From what I am gleaming from guys I know who tour a lot (5000km round trips) the best at reducing noise are well fitting tour helmets, Some come pre equiped with the head sets. these are desinged to be worn all day (without ear plugs) without causing headaches.
The BMW helmets are supposed to be very good, altho very expencive!!
