The word "diet" to me sounds like some special short term thing but if you just make some adjustments to what you eat and keep at that it's a lot easier. Try to eat real food and you should be fine. Splurge out on junk occasionally but know that you ARE eating the wrong food when you do and get back on track again.
12 months ago i was drinking 5-6 cans of coke a day but for the past 12 months its 5-6 bottles of water
