Ive got a K8 with about 53000km. A high proportion of this is commuting which is hardest on engines. Until 2 wks ago no problems. Have recently startrd to blow fuse in instrument pael which hopefully is just the fuel sender malfunctioning.
I look after the bike (do my own servicing) but arent obsessiveabout it. I dont change oil earlier than specified etc etc.
If you want to turn it over 40,000 seems to be the magic mark whre for some obscure reason bikes seem to lose value even though there are plenty of Busas ith 100,000+ KM. Apart from the 40,000 issue dereciation is highest at th beginning of ownership and reduces.
If your only concern is reducing cost of ownership, kee it until the Gen 3 comes out. if it is 10years between new versions (or even 8) you stilll have 3-4 yrs of trouble free riding.
