I think the whole high viz thing has been taken out of context and already blown out of proportion.
If you read the transcripts from the government/police road safety meeting it seems all they are trying to make mandatory is that all riding gear be Hi-Viz (jacket, pants, boots, gloves). That can be as simple as having the reflective 3M material incorporated into your riding gear just like some of the new gear already has.
I didn't read a single line that said all motorcyclists should be forced to dress like valentino rossi and wear bright yellow.
