My Brother in law is coming off his restricted license soon and wants to upgrade his bike to something bit more suited to the road.
He has been looking at Gsxr600s and has asked me to help.
I only ever had 2 bikes, an Across and A Busa, so i am not the schooled on whats good or bad.
He's looking for 2nd hand and wants to spend upto bout $8k.

Unless he's set on a SPORT bike, with full fairing and a crouch position to match, the Suzuki GSR 600 (naked) built with resemblance to the B king style of road warrior,
might suit him perfectly. The handling, power and overall package is extremely user friendly as well as thrilling to ride. If you want to be a bit more up to date, there's the GSR 750, though perhaps not at the kind of price you are thinking.
A low mileage GSR 600 would be a sensational all rounder, or if you don't mind going a bit further back (in years, say an 06 or 07 model) a low mileage Honda Hornet 919 would also be terrific. If that's not enough muscle, there is only one other bike that's really great value just now and that is the Suzuki GSX 1400. They are very easy to ride and maintain, + they are bullet proof and they have stump-pulling torque. I'd buy one of those myself...
