I know a guy who uses a 1 ltr oil bottle zip tied to his bike with a drip spray hose setup from the garden shops to oil feed his chain! Very basic but has to turn off and on the feed every time he gets on or off his bike 
he forgot once at work and had a puddle of oil under his bike 
but he did have 80,000 kms on his chain 
so yeah I can see the benefits of this system.
