I reckon Flashing is the way to go. Ater riding a GEN I, I changed to a Gen II last year. When I first rode it I thought not much different to the Gen I which had TRE mod.
After Pete worked his magic on the ECU and I got a dyno fuel read out at the local dealer (to check the fueling, which was spot-on), what a difference. I just have slip-on exhausts but it has made the bike way more responsive through the gears and better top end.
