With regards to your "burning smell" when you pull up .. It's not just chain lube being thrown onto the pipe is it ?? .. Just a thought

My temps about the same but doesn't get hot to ride on legs, even in north queensland, always wear jeans so I suppose that helps. Try an FJ1300 now there's a bike that gets hot to ride.

My FJ1200 was like riding a furnace, but that WAS air cooled .. Have Yamahaha advanced to water cooled yet ??
