I agree with Wardy and Carbs
.....that DEFINATELY sounds like it's worth a quick trip to check out, mate (...don't forget to take a fistfull of $$$ [plus a trailer] with ya)!!
Nothing against the V-Strom mate
.......but it would be TOTALLY AWESOME to see ya roll up to the next club meet-up on something like THAT!!!! 
ps: and like Max noticed about the huge chicken strips......if it hasn't been getting punted hard around corners.....very good chance it has only been wearing out tyres (....and NOT side fairing panels)!!!
