Busa runs on ram air (SRAD), as the bikes air speed increases, the air filter box air pressure is supposed to increase also. Uncorrected this would cause the motor to run leaner as speed increases (more air with the same fuel amount injected). The gear position sensor is used by the engine control module to select a fueling map that keeps it all in check. If ram air was not used, then the above would not be a concearn.
Brock website claims a "real world" loss of 1/10 second down the drag strip with a TRE fitted. TRE is a resistor in a box which tells the ECM that the bike is always in 5th gear. Makes sense to me! Also, if you map for 6th gear on later models, your top speed limiter is still there. The GPS mod tells the ECM that the bike is in gears 1 to 5 and still in 5th gear when in reality your bike is in 6th gear.
