On the rare chance that you should be stopped for the ubiquitous 'speeding', refuse to sign anything that says anything other than 'exceeding posted speed limit'. Why? In many cases the porkers don't know what the posted speed limit is or where you joined the road. You should never admit to 'speeding'. There are a number of places where I join a road that has an artificially low speed limit, presumably because some tosser pollie lives on that road. However, it does not meet the requirements of a built up/resedential area. Unless it meets the built up area requirements (distance between houses/street lights etc.) and no other sign has been passed, then it is only restricted to the applicable state maximum speed.
Now if more socially responsible people took it upon themselves to remove potentially harmful road side signage, then the world would be a safer place.
