After I read the comment about the NBN being the only good thing the Govt. has undertaken, I threw my hands in the air and thought just give up. The phrase "can't see the forest for the trees" springs to mind.
But I will comment on one point of the NBN that people haven't picked up on at this stage. They have had to make changes to the Trade Practices Act to enable this deal to go through. They will have a total monopoly, every provider will have to go through the NBN. Putting this another way, we will have a communist govt. having total control (including its pricing and content) over this very important means of communication.
Secondly, when was the last time we had a govt. built and operated project that was more efficient and less costly to run than private enterprise could do? We only have to look at the BER to get a glimpse of what's going to happen. I honestly believe that this Labor govt. loves big projects like this so they can easily hide the grafts and kickbacks that surely must be coming back to them through the system i.e. school halls costing 3 times what private enterprise could build them for. Where do we really think that money's gone to?

You left one out mate, Gillard before the election -we will not have a carbon tax, that promise lasted about 3 weeks.
