Phil yours was one of the first i had seen with the filter probs,not an uncommon thing since then, and understanding better now why Suzuki sell the filter and pump as a set,
By the time you notice your filter is blocked, it has been putting the pump under a lot of strain for quite a while , and this wears the pump out quicker . a replacement or cleaning of the filter may not totally fix the issue but probably will bring the flow and pressure into spec for a while .
