Dale is the F1 light on ? When you turn key on with kill on can you hear the pump ?
When it stopped would it re start ?
My biggest concern would be the statement "it looks like the fuel pump" Is he guessing or has he tested for pressure and volume ?
He should really know if it is or not, unless the statement he made was just at a passing glance as you dropped it off in that case it's fair call at that point.
There is many things that can cause the prob any more info would help.
