1st Gear whine

1of my riding buddies has a 2000 Busa that really whines in 1st gear, Mine makes a small amount of noise, but his whines like a supercharger. It has done since he bought it, about 25,000kms ago. his dealer told him its okay as some of the hayabusa came out with special race gears that are noisier than normal....sounds crap to me. Its not whine from sprockets. Any Ideas, is this for real....cheers
