Can't open passanger seat

Installed a new regulator last week. Put the duck tail back on and replaced the passanger seat only to realise I forgot to hook up the tail-light and seat release!!! Bike has been off the road for a week now as I try to get that seat off!
I've broken off the tail light (needed a new one anyway). I can see the seat but not the mechanism.
I hope I'm not the only person stupid enough to have done this.
