Also if by chance one of the stator yellow wires got joined to the wrong one as they where soldered together would this be a problem i had wires all ready for soldering and i knew what was going on but whilst i went to fridge for refreshment person helping me decided to move the yellow wires out of the way this not exactly leaving me sure they came off and went back on the same wire they where joined to. Iam feeling may have to take it to auto elec but would like to try all possibilities first. Any help or info is greatly appreciated

Hi!
When I found my wires all melted together under the seat, I had the same problem. However, seems all the yellow wires are inter-changeable with the other 2 wires being positive and negative - easy.
You'll get better value for money replacing everything than paying an auto electrian, and as a bonus you'll know the weak points should it go wrong again. I had a lot of joy after a new battery, but the rectifier was always dodgy and evetually gave up, so I replaced that and stator (to be sure) with parts from a wrecker. Just do the lot!
