I committed no offence, nor exceeded any speed limit. It is quite legal to pass a vehicle in another lane if they are travelling below the speed limit.
Yes, my many years of riding have taught me to be wary of any such manouvre and I was completely at ease giving her a wide berth as I rode by. She simply did not look or indicate that she was about to swerve and change lanes simply to avoid a dark patch of tar on the road.
So, in any case, it is all history now the insurance company has organised for all new parts to be fitted next Monday.
