The best way (IMO) is to heat them up with a hair dryer / heat gun, then get a finger nail under a corner and slowly peel them off. Most of mine came off in one piece, but one of them (can't remember which one) was a real PITA, came off in billion pieces & left a lot of residue.
I used white spirits & a soft cloth to get the residue off

Some people are like Slinkies ... not really good for anything, but you can't help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs.
