Glad you are OK...for the insurance claim, you answer "no, the police were not called, I didn't think the damage was expensive/severe enough and there were no injuries". And when/if they query that statement against the cost of repairs, the answer is "I'm not an auto repair specialist, I just did my best at the time, it wasn't necessary to tow it away" or similar.
Yes, as I understand it, the crash will earn you a neg driving charge, because as a copper (the same bloke who gave me the above lines) once explained to me: who else can you blame for the crash?
And I'd be looking for diesel fuel on the road perhaps.
