I know it sounds a bit silly, but it is easier if you have someone experienced behind you to keep the traffic off you. Just a suggestion, but even if you don't have a mate on a bike, get a friend in a car (but make sure to tell them to watch for your braking). If you have someone behind you it is just a little bit easier, one less thing to worry about.
This is a suggestion I do for anyone picking up their first bike, I can't tell you how many L platers I have followed home. A few weeks ago I even had to ride a mates first SCOOTER home! I was SO EMBARASSED, I said I would only do it if there was no camera. As I took off I heard a huge cheer and turned back to see all the boys from the shop cheering me off waving their camera phones. f***kers.
All sorted :) Should have given them a flyby, screeched to a halt in front of them, issued a race challenge and then gotten the hell outta there!! Well, as fast as you can on a scooter! LOL!
No doubt about it Heidi, you're a good egg. There are many who would not have done that for a friend.... may lend money, offer a sympathetic ear for hours on end, sacrifice first born child... but ride a scooter? WOW!!!
