My advice on the fuel issue for what its worth. If you have never replaced the filter and had the 2 screens in the pump cleaned then penny to a pinch of shit they will be the problem. I have recently done mine (99) and was amazed at the gunk on the screens especially the fine one. It was almost blocked with a fine red paste - rust in the fuel. The symtoms you describe are the same as i had. It is a bit a a drama to do the clean and change the filter but do it or get it done. Mine runs perfect now.
