Dyno run with a twist

GenII, stock except for a pair of two brothers slip-ons. There were no expectations for horsepower as all dyno's are different, what I was after was to make sure the air/fuel ratio was OK and if my new Pipercross air filter gave better numbers than my clean stock filter.

First - 3 runs on the stock filter, the best being a 178.something hp & 105 ft-lbs. Whilst still winding down, Todd yells out "you've got a flat tyre" - the rear tyre had dislodged a tek screw (or something similar) during one of the runs and was basically flat. The tyre had a nice strip on it from where it had been slipping on the dyno drum. Scary part was that because I have the twin cans the rear door of the dyno room was left open to get rid of the exhaust fumes. Scary Could have been nasty if someone was walking past at the wrong time.

Tyre plugged, air filter changed to the Pipercross & off we go again. Best numbers were 191.45 hp & 114.70 ft-lbs (25.6 deg C, 30.2 in-Hg, 31% humidity)

As a comparison they had a maps of GenII's with Yoshi 4-2-1, K&N filter & PCIII and another with brocks shorty, afternarket filter & PCIII both hitting 204 hp.

So, from today I have learnt -
Try not to run over tek screws on the way to the tuning place, Pi_thumbsdown
Comply with warning signs that say "clear area behind dyno", Scary
Fully inflated tyres are better than flat ones & Idiot2
I need a full system & PCIII.

Thanks to Andcad & duc13 for making it a enjoyable day. Pi_thumbsup I'll let you post your stories.

Cheers
Troy
