Don't quote me on this Bill but the boys in blue have been tough on FE's in the last few months. The other thing to check out is I thought you normally had 2 weeks grace after the expirey date from memory just a thought.
Last time I spoke with Andrew (hayabusabike) as long as you have a number plate light and a reflector of some sort you maybe OK, Andrew had a small reflector attatched to the bottom of his number plate as he didnt' have a reflector attached to the tail light like the original.
The other option is ask if any of the guys have got an undertail etc to borrow just to get it over the pits and then put it back the way you had it.
Anway someone maybe able to offer some better advice thats been in the situation..
