:BangHead:OMG!
So we got off to a late start Friday, 5pmish which means arriving around 11pm. SRAD is still refusing to take ANYTHING for pain after haveing his tooth pulled(Doesn't want pain pills taking the edge off of the thought process)After Midnight when everyone got to sleep.
Well Saturday brought a new beginning! Perfect weather cool dense air with low humidity all three of the Bikes were running great!
Our friend Von who has been working closely with SRAD to prep his bike for the Mile went looking to run a 175MPH.
Imagine his elation when he rolled off the Trailer to the track and ran a 179MPH! AND, when I rolled in with a 17MPH and his smile got even wider!
Don't get me wrong we are friends and NOT competitors but I think it was like a little double shot of pride for him, faster than expected AND faster than the HeavyBus.
Well he came back with a 183MPH to my 178MPH and more smiles.
At this point SRAD pulled me aside and told me to stop messing around and get down to business. SO,
I went out the next round and laid down a solid 191.428MPH.
When Von came back with a 185.675 his smile was even bigger until he asked what I ran. :laughing7:
Silly Boy!
Well the next run brought my best pass of the day 192.176MPH!
one pass later Von came back with a 190.884MPH! Very impressive for a first time LSR and for a bike with Stock internals. I felt pretty comfortable with the numbers and made the move to our friends 08 Busa. Hugo couldn't find leathers or get entered in time so he asked me to ride his bike. SRAD spent a few days going over it checking things and race prepping it so we could run it.
Straight off the trailer on a sitting up shakedown run it ran 171MPH. I was amazed at how much smoother and cleaner the 2nd Gen Busa feels at speed. Not nearly as much wind beating on me!
Well each pass got smoother faster and I launched a little harder each time.
176MPH
Back to the Pits and the guys pulled the mirrors and the Mufflers,
181MPH
182.399MPH.
182MPH on a bone stock Bike! Faster than I ran on the HeavyBus in October! There were a few more passes to be made on Saturday evening but I was pretty tired by this point. So we called it a day and headed to the room.
Well we had more fun. Seems the wireless card in my laptop wouldn't see the Hotels wireless net. And then to top things off my laptop couldn't read the GoPro onboard cameras video signal! Thus no live updates.
Sunday brought great air and 15MPH+ headwinds. So speeds were down quite a bit with no higher speeds.
There was however one new surprise.
Since I began this adventure I have tested in all kinds of winds , West Texas in known for it's high winds. I tested @175MPH with a 25mph cross wind. What I NEVER and I mean NEVER experienced before was wind shear. on two of my run the wind was crossing the track at an angle(Headwind + sidewind) So I was running in the 180's with the bike leaned pretty far over to the left to counter the wind pushing against it. All of a sudden the it jerked HARD to the left and before I could countersteer it jerked hard back right! In just a second or two it was over. I was pretty shcked to say the least and pretty intimidated until Von came in complaining of the same. I happened once more then it was gone. Pretty scarey to say the least.
Well that's the quicky version of the weekend here's the Video SRAD put together for me.
