Generally speaking, if you just replace the mufflers with a pair of slip ons, you don't have to make any other mods.
The bike runs really well unless you are looking for maximum HP, which you said that you are not.
I love my Yoshi R77 slip ons. Extra torque and a few extra hp and a lovely sound. No other changes required.
