The useless bits of info to see if we can make a million posts thread
Ok ok

Another favourite is when people say 'oh they've just had a shock'

I ask - 'oh did they touch an electric wire?'

people who have little accidents are not shocked....

Shock is a little more indepth than that, that above is a fright. From the surge of adrenaline the body sends out in a situation, the fight or fright response. Adrenaline is sent out in a sympathetic (speed up response) response, the body can also send out parasympathetic responses (which is the slow down effect)

Shock - here goes.

a definition - Shock is a state of circulatory dysfunction in which tissue O2 delivery is less than required. If untreated, multi-organ failure and death result. Shock is the final common pathway of numerous disease states. so from this, how can the common person see someone is experiencing a form of shock??? I say a form as shock comes in many varieties depending of its origin.

Hypovolaemic this is a loss of volume (blood) think of it as a loss in brake fluid, that would be the busa's hypovolaemic shock

Cardiogenic think of it as a pump failure, not pumping, well not going.

Septic mmm well this is from infection.

Anaphylactic [/i]this is the most severe form of allergic reaction, one sniff of antigen (bad shit that sets you off) and your body has one huge hissy fit, its a multi system failure... the blood vessels go all spastic and loose, which makes the pump work harder to try and pump the same 5 litres around a much larger hose system, so hearts going, you've literally lost fluid volume.... and lol your on the way out unless someone steps in.

So cos your brain isn't recieving oxygenated blood, your starting to go all stupid, act funny, pass out..... Your hearts racing hard.....

You need clevera people to either add more volume to your blood, add a bit of adrenaline, it boosts your hearts workload and helps lift the BP, also acts as a vasoconstrictor and makes your peripheral blood vessel constrict which helps if they have vasodilated.....

Then you start feeling a bit better again after a while.
