Avon Viper is a great tyre but as stated they dont wear very well, havent these been discontinued due to a copy right of the name Viper
I have just put on the new Avon Storm and so far so good, just as sticky but seems to be lasting longer.

I get close to 5k out of them when I'm in town mode and commuting each day. I've had a couple of Clyde Mountain runs in the one I just replaced. They were pretty flat out runs with a ZX12 the first time and an R1 in fast mode the second. Lucky to get 2200kays out of it. The message being - the Viper is sticky and capable of reasonable wear, until you need it for what it's made for then it wears quickly, but sticks to the road like shit to a blanket. I backed out of the dice when it got dangerously fast, way before the tyre complained or lost traction.
The Viper returned after a name issue. My tyre bloke told me they're replacing it with another next year. Hope ot doesn't lose any of it's current abilities.
The Storm is more a sport tourer. A rung down the performance ladder from the Viper. Still a good tyre.
