You could always slip down to Repco and buy a 36mm ring spanner with a decent reach on it, but, being an axle nut you are tentioning I suggest a decent torque wrench, doesn't have to be state of the art, and most have a decent throw on them so a little bloke like you wont bust-a-gut getting the thing undone and re-tentioned.
