OK! I go through this A LOT. First thing, write to you Roads and Traffic, or whatever it is in your state. There should be contact details on the back of your ticket.
Write a lovely letter pointing out that you have had a pretty much blemish free driving record for 30 years, and you are devestated at your folly. Say that you must have had a moment's distraction, but as they can see from your record, you are not a habitual speeder. Ask them as a courtesy to your 30 years of almost clear driving, to reduce the fine and points penalty slightly.
What have you got to lose?? Just do it BEFORE the fine is due. One that date comes up, they wont do anything.
