One issue we seem to be running into here in the States is that dealers are not reading the Safety Campaign Recall closely enough. Some are thinking that all K8's in the recall will need a new switch installed.
That is not correct. ONLY if the bike has been on the road for any amount of time (be it a customer's bike, or a dealer demo), AND inspection reveals wire harness mis-routing, only THEN does the ignition switch get replaced.
If there is no mis-routing, a small embossed dot is punch next to the VIN number to indicate the bike has been through the Safety Campaign. If the wire harness is mis-routed but the bike is still in the showroom and has zero miles on it, the harness is correctly re-routed, and the VIN number punched. No switch replacement in that scenario.
