Life in the 18th century was a fair bit different to the 21st century that we live in now.
I'd be thinking that some people should build a bridge or two and move on.
We have what we have been born into.
That is what we have to work with.
If a person or family don't like their inherited homeland, they can apply to move to a new locale if they are accepted by the current residents.
Once there, they should be grateful and slip in quietly.
