Methanol has a few problems not found with petrol ,but all can be overcome which leaves you with methanols many benifits ,though I would only use it for racing purposes

Cold starting is only a problem when the engine temp is below 70deg F....On my bike anyway! All you need is a shot of petrol down its guts and it'll fire.
Race bike or rarely riden bike is better suited.
If you think methonal is hard to fire, try Nitromethane.....
