Whats a bikers life worth?

I love the "I didn't see them" defense. Wonder if it will work the next time I'm in Bunnings randomly swinging an axe as i walk around "accidently" taking little Johnny's head off. "Sorry your Honor but I didn't see him."
"In that case good citizen your free to go." somehow sounds a little wrong so why is it the law accepts this as an acceptable defense in the case of bike deaths?

I'll let you know what the courts say a bikers life is worth after the court case lets say Oct 15.
