When I suggested that you learn the differences between the early models and the later models, I did have most of the items listed above in mind and I didn't have time to write this last night.

The 99/00 models have a 350kph speedo,
a 16bit ECU that isn't interchangeable with new bikes,
the fuel tank has 1 litre extra capacity because the pump is fitted in behind the engine and that brings with it some extra issues to worry about.
In the later models the fuel pump is inside the tank to help keep it cool.
The early models that have the external pump often suffer from a bit of fuel vaporisation in hot weather and the original fitted fuel lines are soft rubber that can kink and block the fuel flow if not fitted properly.
The front axle is different on the 1st models and requires a special tool or a home made one to remove it.
The rear subframe is alloy on the 99 model and has a maximumum load limit of 195kg all up on the bike. It is ok and does not tend to break unless overloaded or overstressed by too many wheelies etc. My old bike had the original subframe and never looked like breaking but like VOLVI, I ride solo nearly everywhere.
The subframe was never a recall.
The only recalls on the 99 model were to fix the cam chain adjuster that was not designed to be lubricated on that model and the guides and chain failed as a result.
There were a total of 3 recalls that resulted in a new oil line being run to the automatic adjuster to resolve the issue once and for all.
Later models came with the oil line off the production line.
The clutch on the first couple of models has a lighter action and tended to slip a little easier but an early model with a good clutch is a smoother ride in my opinion.
The early models do not have a clutch sleeve protector down near the front sprocket and as a result, the fluid in the master cylinder gets dirty from chain oil/grease working it's way into the system. This seems to have very little effect on the action of the clutch but looks dirty in the visi guage up on the handlebars.

For some unknown reason the 99/00 models seem to pull harder from a lower rev range than the later GEN 1 models. I don't know why. Maybe its the 16 bit ECU.

I've probably forgotten a couple of minor differences.
