Remapping std ECU on the dyno

Wow, this Petrik dude isn't even a software engineer!
Can a 32bit ECU & wiring loom swap straight over to replace a 16bit '00 one? - ie no extra sensors (assuming that sensors have same signalling range(?)).

Would be a project I'd like to do.
