If you read the warranty information in your booklet, it recommends you use genuine parts and a qualified mechanic.
They do like to scare you into submission by saying that your warranty will be void. They cannot say that here, because the distance for someone living in remote area that has bought a Suzuki could mean he might have to travel 2 days to get to one. As long as it is serviced by a qualified mechanic, i think!.
But realistically, they can say what they like at the dealer, even if you've had it serviced by them all it's life. It's just less likely to occur if they've done the servicing (they won't hold up the claim from Suzuki) where as, if you've done all the work your self, they will be less likely to help I suppose.
The dealer in town here, tried to scare me, saying I'd void my warranty, and that they need to check valve clearances etc on the first service.
As if they would really do all that for a hours labour cost!!!!
Not likely!!
Worked in car dealerships enough to know what goes on....it's not good. Foolishly thought that the motorcycle industry would be slightly different, but unfortunately.......it's not!!
It's worth a read, it might make you feel a little more settled doing it yourself.
I even got offered a job at a Honda dealership, servicing motorcycles, with no previous experience on bikes, other than my own!!!!
Needless to say, doubts in my own abilities prevented me from taking it further!!
