I kept my receipts for the exercise.

1,348 Klms travelled

79.83 Litres of Ultimate used = $102.90

making 16.88 Klms to the Litre, with a tank range of 371.

My onboard was showing average 18/19 klms/litre, so expected a little better then above figures.

It is interesting Volvi.
I took a 4 litre mower tin to fill up at the local garage on the weekend and it took 4.4 litres in the 4 litre tin according to the petrol bowser.
I should use a measure at home and see exactly how much is in the tin.

Bet you the bowser is wrong - 10% overcharge....

I'd be interested, too.

I'm currently getting 190kms out of a tank, beat THAT! 11kms to the litre, three tanks to get to Sydney and back. makes the car look DAMN economical!

Heidi, Ive never had it as bad as that. at worst i got 260 a tank thereabouts. Id say you badly need a dyno to re-tune fuel mixtures and parhaps a re-map.

I did notice that before Rod kindly installed an ivans TRE on my bike just recently which I never thought Id ever have any use for. Before that my bike was running rich. It may still i dont know, but I did notice a significant benefit in mileage since the TRE. dont ask me why coz I wouldnt know.

I remember that Maggot was getting crap milage. I can't recall exactly what it was and what he did about it. I am sure he will chime in and let us know. Matt?

yup 9 kays a litre

I got it Dynoed at Petes Pitstop (FF1) a couple of days before I rode up and played on Canberras finest roads.

Melbourne to canberra on 2 tanks averaging around the 450-500kays a tank. that was crusing on the Hume at really low revs but regardless the difference even now is massive. Heidi, go get it dynotuned!!!

second that maggot - Hedi - I'd be getting a dyno quick smart ;) "Busa riders always count in three's.... 100, 200, 300"

Yep, the tune up does the trick.
I pointed out the colour of your exhausts to a couple of people at Jindy Heidi. They were REALLY BLACK..

I do mostly hwy riding with the Saturday morning cruise into town. I have always averaged between 18.5 and 20.5 k/litre at cruising speeds between 80 and 160.

My trip meter pretty much stayed on 15km/L for the trip.Interestingly this was better consumption than a stock busa in my group which used about the same as kawasukis with cams and a 41T rear with heavier rider.Thats about 300km to the tank.About the same as my vfr. Glenn the Spa Man, son of kawasuki from easyrider imports

Like....

wot's a trip meter ?

well i went the same way as vovi and over all around same speed but my trip meter was showing about 13km to the litre so yes i think my bike may need a tune but please answer this why does every one say chuck it on the dyno i no of mechanics out there that dont have dynos but still i have had great feedback from people that have been there .
so dyno or no dyno would be intrested to hear your feedback

well Rod those that dont use a dyno can only really rely on theyre "ear" or "feel" even if experienced. at least the dyno will give you readings across the range showing exactly whats happening as the engine is working, rich or lean etc. forget the HP factor. then mapping to suit the bike. I believe in it. Im still weighing up the Power Commander vs in store map argument. The PC adjusts at every 250 rev per thousand. the yoshi box a measly 5% + or minus increments. I think theres another box out there that does every thousand. But with your readings Rod I do highly recommend a dyno tune, Im sure there will be a major difference thereafter.

BTW, I forgot to mention in my above fugures that Im running a 43 tooth sprocket, so that does make a diff. ie better fuel ration on 40 OEM.
