Bike seized today in Melbourne

G'day
So...it's acceptable to speed or do something a bit stoopid but only where/when some other fellow motorcyclist party approves?

you've never gone over the limit Kev?
I think most of us agree there are places you can go over the limit very safely.
But we all agree that the city or down Lygon St ain't the place.

Pete - shit, yes...but I was trying to be a bit ironic and point out that approvals might not be granted by everyone.
Is there a parallel between the system of approvals given by law, and the system of approvals given by a peer group?
Or, Raz, what if you are only 4 hours out of town...do you have to ride at legal speed for another hour before you do what you gotta do?
There are lines and there are shades of grey, and not everyone sees the same shade...
Can we not say OK the dopey bugger did a stupid thing and got caught but no-one got hurt so he can just accept the responsibility himself?
Can we not label him a stupid person and not representative of mobile citizenry generally? Why do we have to denounce him as a motorcyclist and draw comparisons to ourselves?
:-)

My 2 cents. When I was younger and alot dumber, I did alot of stupid things, now I listen to my apprentice doing all the same stupid things I did (eg bikes, cars and the worst of all ,girls). Yes the guys a tit but if you could talk to your self 20 yrs ago 'I bet you'd think you were a tit too. Just be happy when no one dies. And hope he/she grows up quickly

little chuckle here...often enough I have a chuckle at my kids and they look at me funny, they don't think any one has done that bit of tomfoolery before, and I have to explain they are not exactly breaking new ground...

Kev11e - I was just making a point - I am sure you have the brain power to get it ;)

hehehe

as for unlicensed & unrego'd - well he should be - but lets be honest here - having all those & doing all the right things don't stop drivers not giving way & killing you, not drinking & driving & killing you, driving 4WD's & not staying in their lane & killing you......

I am sure we get that point as well

Kevin I take it you are talking about the one in NSW well i have not read that yet im talking about the 30year old male rider on his learners doing 144 in a 60 now if you want to defend him well that is your choice but im just glad he did not clean up a bunch of kids on the way to school may i sugest you find out who he is and pay his fine for him as it was only one little bit of stupidity as a 30 year old learner i no what its like to have cars pull out on you when you are doing 60 let alone 140kmh

So does being unlicenced or unregistered make you a good or bad rider?Im just sick to death of this politically correct bullshit.
Ok i am only talking about the 1st instance in this discussion about the guy doing 140 in a 60 zone.Who says it was a built up or busy street?I agree ,i see dickheads doing wheelies and speeding down fitzroy or chapel street where there is lots of traffic and predestrians and yes in that circumstance it is dangerous, but you also have 60 kay zones on major roads and 140 would be quite easy to do if the conditions where right.Just get over it you do gooders, ffs.
Dont judge other peoples riding standards by your own.Ok the guy was a learner, that means he hasnt had a licence long, but who knows he might be an ex A grade racer for all you know, you dont need to have a "road" licence to race.Maybe he was just a complete fuckwit, but on the given information, who are we to judge?

I started riding and driving at 8.. I didnt get my bike l's till i was 23.. Just cause your on your l's doesnt mean anything.. There are motogp riders that dont have a bike licence.. lol... If they came to oz, and wanted to ride on the road, they would be on their L's.. that would make them crap riders compared to us.

Its funny reading this...  Lots of people saying when I was younger and all..  I know someone who is sort of a family member who was riding unregistered on the weekend and he is aoubt 57.. on a 2006 gsxr 1k... cold tyre, whatever.. bike written off.

Ive seen plenty of you lot going easily 150kmph over the normal 100kmph speed limit.. and at 33 im one of the younger ones in the group.. lol.. all that when i was younger bullshit..  Im just glad that when Ive ridden with you guys its always been on the track or we wouldnt be allowed to comment!!  stones and glass houses and all that shit..

Another 2 bobs worth...St georges road isn't a race track and it's a built up area with it's fair share of traffic and pedestrians ... I reckon if you get caught doing that kind of speed and endangering other people's lives in a built up area... you deserve getting the book thrown at ya...

Beautifull day today people's....Biker
