Dont know if its been covered but .
I seemed to be losing or using a bit much clutch fluid,so pulled the sprocket cover and found that fluid had been eating anything that had a painted surface (cover only luckily).
Anyway got a new slave cylinder seal and replaced it today.
Easy job the only thing you will need out of the ordinary is a compressor (air) to pop the piston out of the bore.
So if you seem to be topping the fluid up a bit its worth checking,
price of the seal was around $8.
Cheers Dave.

Another point worth considering, if its an early model slave without the dust boot, rig up a makeshift piston cover to keep the crap out and th seal will last longer. Some have used bottle top lids and door solenoid rubber boots, try to be inventive if you can!

Give me an hour and i'll be there! -bottle top and all.
Cheers Dave.
The other thing relating to clutch problems, is a word of caution when using heavy clutch springs. My bike has heavy clutch springs and as a result there is now a hairline fracture in the slave housing. You can buy supports for around $100 in the net, but I think mine has gone beyond that and I will eventually need to buy both a support and a new housing. Does anyone know where I could get another housing?

Are you sure that the cover cannot be alloy welded? Would be cheaper I guess.

Oh dear!
I did the above, replaced seal, and bought and installed the clutch dust cover. No big deal or cost except the out diameter of the dust seal doesn't locate as well as it might on later models?
I too have heavier springs (part of Shnitz BLT mod). I also had bad experience with the supports (see other threads) and personally, I think it's a waste of money. I can still detect flex.
I think the best solution is a billet cover, just can't afford one yet. One reason why I will stick to clutchless changes at the drags for the immediate future so the cover doesn't work too hard.
I have just replaced the clutch slave seal on my 99 Busa. I've put everything back together and bled the clutch.
Now every time I pull the clutch in when the motor is running there seems to be a rattle from the clutch push rod area which wasn't there before, any ideas will be very much appreciated.

A bit of rattle from the plates is "normal", wouldn't be too concerned, oh and following on from thread way back in 2007, yep got a billet cover, never had a leak since, nice action and no oil discolouration either!
