just thought to add some back ground info if any one is interested.
engine started off as a 2 litre n\a carby fed, with points ignition.
end result: .60 tho over size pistons, bottom end fully ballenced\blueprinted,big cam(4 to 7 rpm range), head ported\polished\match-ported, big valves, imported efi inlet manifold\ now modifyed with vr v6 throttle body, multi coil(1 per plug), all controlled by a wolf3d after market ecu.

interesting mix, fmic w/ old school L20B...going against the usual SR20DET? Yeah, skip the SR move on to the heavy metal FJ...now that is where it's at!

yep. i'm too impation't to wait for a turbo to spool up.
however i think it might be a pig down low, and a wild bore up top due to cam. i wanted to see how far i can push the original motor. just for a laugh.

years ago a mate spent way too much on 2.4L stroked L20B...years later having an FJ20ET I would say the 2.4 would leave me for dead down low, turbo taking the lead as boost and revs come on, esp considering the FJ20 is such a revvy motor for an old donk.

His 2.4 had twin 48mm webbers and absolutely hammered. Mind you he paid something like $4.5k circa 1992.

is your FJ a turbo? I'm suspect I'm need of a new oil pump for fj20 turbo. bascially it sounds just like a supercharger is under the hood, high pitche mechanically whine, pitch sync with revs - oil pressure still all good, just god aweful noise.

yes its a turbo motor. Sounds like an alternator or waterpump bearing to me though. Did you put a long screwdriver on the block and to your head to track the noise?
