sob-sob-sob-sob-sob-sob-sob-sob..........

On Saturday did a run with a few friends at the Reefton and Black Spur in Victoria's Dandenongs. Excellent weather, wild riding and heaps of big new bikes, mine red/silver busa being one of them! Had a go on the new ZX-12R Ninja for a bit as well. .....BUT, about 15k's out of Heallesville I ended up down a steep enbankment/cliff !! Doing a right sweeper, corner dug sharper as going thru it... then hit the stringee bark lying across the road. Recovered, but lost a fair bit of ground while regaining a new line. Well, we all know what happens then. The black hard stuff ran out and the soft green/brown stuff greeted me and the bike. My Busa went 8m down the cliff rubbing a few trees on the way, and I tumbled along taking out a few white reflector posts!! Myself leading the way made an interesting site for my mates coming around the corner seeing me lying there.

Not even 10 minutes later we had a ripper of a guy use his electric winch on his 4WD and hoist it back up. Thanx who-ever you were. Fuel tank and mirrors squashed to oblivion, but still was able to ride it an hour home to Frankston. No charity ride for me next week Deemester, but am heading to Werribee on Saturday so I'll stop by and oogle over those non-bent Busa's at the Shell Servo.

Safe Riding, Peter

Well, the assessor has decided to write the bike off !! DAMN !!!! I'd just had a very expensive alarm system fitted to it and all, not even allowed to grab it off it. Really loved the bike!

How's this for strange?! Dropped off my bike at Peter Stevens in Dandenong early last week for quotes. QBE has private assessor - sends him out. He looks at my bike Wed. this week and writes off bike. Thursday I phone bike shop wondering what is going on cause I haven't heard anything over a week. They tell me situation (Stunned Mullet I Was!!) and assessor was going to take bike straight away, but couldn't. I ph Insurance company and they say we don't know until assessor writes report one week later to tell us he's wriitten it off. I said 'Well yr guy can't take bike away unless he asks me - what about my private stuff on it, like auto garage door opener hard wired into bike with button up top. I left my bike at workshop premises cause I thought it was safe. WELL, not so, bike shop has no say, nor do I. Lucky today I was able to take time off work, take tools and rip off wiring and personal door remote before assessor took it. LUCKY. I left remote there due to no panel or side damage on that side, and hard to remove. BIG SECURITY ISSUES are going to be have to be dealt with I think.

Hopefully I get a new Busa out of this due to being less than 5 months old. Old bike will go to Fowlers Auctions. What are the 2002 colour schemes for Busa's??
Cheers Peter

Hi Peter

I am in a similar situation to you, bike only 7 months old and I crashed it on the charity ride on the GOR.

Whilst it doesn't look too bad, the repair cost is a bit of a shock and I am just waiting to have it assessed.

Even though I'm insured for an agreed value of 18 grand, I have quite a few mods that will be lost if they do write it off.

Also found out that my policy doesn't cover, helmet, jacket etc, so looks like this is gunna cost me quite a few grand.

I am told that there are still a few K1 models around but the new colours (K2) are blue/silver and black/blue, which can be seen at the suzuki site www.suzuki.com.au
I don't like the new colours at all.

If you wish to contact me privately send me an email aramat@dingoblue.net.au

Thanks
Les

Some insurance companies offer helmet cover at an extra premium, and some include it anyway. When I had an accident on my P's, they started to tell me that clothing and helmet would not be covered. When they realised that I was not at fault, and they would be able to recover from the other insurance company, I got paid out on gloves, jacket, pants, and helmet (which is what I would have expected even if I was at fault!)

Did the two spurs yesterday, including the side trip up to Lake Mountain. Anyone planning on going in the next few weeks should be fore-warned that a 5-10k section near Lake Mountain has been relaid in the past week or so, and there is a heap of fine gravel over the road. Other than that, the whole run is in A1 condition!
