ok guys ive been tossing up between a zx12r and a busa for the last couple months now and i realy have no idea. ive ridden both bikes and botha re great to ride. both are very fast. it feels teh 12 handles better but the busa goes harder. so i know about the performance now i wanna know about the reliability etc. potential for mods etc. i know ive already posted on this topic a while back but then i hadnt riden the 12. can teh busa be cheaply made to handle better? or is making it handle better costly? thanks alot in advance and thanks to gazza414 for ur pm about the bikes but now i really cant decide i like the look of both bikes but in different ways so yeah thanks.

If by saying "handle better" you mean quicker steering, more willing to turn in.
A pair of raising links on the rear $0 to $50
and or risers in the front 0 to $50, adjust tire pressures, adjust suspension settings
you could go for a 43 tooth sprocket on the back
$50 to $100 for the sprocket about $170 for a speedohealer.
it's not rocket science
Hayabusa's have been setup with a fairly slow but stable steering for high speed work, everything is a compromise, just compromise it in the way that you want!

It depends what you want from the bike.If you want a good open road blaster, thats stable at fast speeds and has better grunt,go the busa.If you want a big bike that is better for the twisties go the 12.You can make the busa handle better for minimal $$$$,but i still dont think it handles as quick as a 12.
Good luck with it. Phuck its the phantom!

or do a comparison and see how many units of each were sold since theyre release, maybe that will tell you something too. To me no dilemma.

HEY Dan
Well I've owned both the zx12r was when I went to the dark side. I've owned 4 busas & have 2 at the moment.
In standard set up the 12 does feel better to ride up the twistes but not when pushed as it is set up for a 68kg ride from factory & it has issues . There is plenty of stuff on the zx12r web sites to back this up as well.
I had tank slapper problem with mine at 240 Ks which was scary shit. This was from trying to make up for the shit suspension by adjusting it all to suit my weight.
The kawa shop just wanted to sell me a sterring dampner but
that would just mask the problem not fix it.
I spent $1100 & had the suspension done up & then it was fine.
My 1st busa in 99 I did 30k on it with stock suspension in it
& only played with the setting & it was fine. Although I do have full race tech in my current busa its better.
My mate at work just got a 12r & he is having suspension issues as well. But he got it for $15700 new ride away so he can spend some $s on it at that price
The 12 IS HEAVIER ON THE FUEL.
They have not got as good bottom end as the busa . The 1st thing i did was put on a smaller front sprocket to help it out.
As for strengh of the donk ,as I wanted to go turbo I was advised not to do the 12 as it would'nt handle it.

Hey Shredder,
I bet the 12 isnt as thirsty as a turboed busa.
As far as handling goes,i never found the 12 to be nervous,
but then i weigh in at 68 kilos,so according to you, thats right on the money! Phuck its the phantom!

Shit Dan,big difference between a Viagra and a Busa.
You better take it real easy untill you get used to the power. Phuck its the phantom!

yeah i know thanks rod. its jsut that the virago doesnt do it for me anymore. still riding but not fun. kinda like when i went from my 1.5L laser to my current xr6 turbo but hey i have to get used to it some how so to all you canberra riders and drivers watch out for the for a week or so while i get accustomed cause im jsut so used to having to twist the throttle the whole way round all the time

Now where's the cheesecake thread when you need it?

Had losts of Kawa's Dan. Still like em'.

But this is really a no brainer..........

Get the The later the model the harder the crust and creamier the filling. Hope that makes sense? I'm sure the Busa owners out there know what I mean!

And don't get suckered in to the restricted nonsense on the older crustier models...

If you ever go past a gay bar in Canberra say hi to Nutsac from his old (straight) riding buddies...
