Payed the price!!!

Yesterday i payed the price for second guessing my rides stability when i arrived at my sisters rural property front gate kicked the stand out and at that moment as the bike rested its wieght upon the stand it stopped just past vertical precarious i know but i only had 2m to walk to the gate (20mm gravel drive way) left the motor running dismounted the bus took two steps towards the gate then actually turned and second guest my rides stabilty said to my self looks ok proceeded another two steps to the gate with one hand on the gate thats when i heard silence followed quickly by the crunching of fairing into gravel so much damage with such a little fall. I write this not only to show my stupidity but warn others not to become complacent with the standered stand. Now i will see how QBE insurance goes.

sorry to hear mark thats a real shit.
That happened to my 1st busa ,I was parked on the side of the road with a mate saying goodbye & a semi came round the corner . I felt the ground shake & looked around & the bike was upside down in a ditch. Hadn't had it's first service yet & it had fairing damage & a broken clutch lever.
Yes it does happen quick & easy .

not good news Mark, however i too know how you feel, had the exact same thing happen to me after owning it for only a couple of months. My gravel drive also had a couple of decent size rocks where she landed -the result-$3000 repair bill(insurance)They replaced everything that had a mark on it.
Its a horrible sound isnt it,and one you never want to hear again.

Cheers Dave.

Oh NOOOOO!
Mark that is a bummer and I'm really sorry to hear it.
Such a beautiful bike too.

I sure hope you are not off the road and don't miss the Nymboida run.

Bummer

Same thing happened to me, but fortunately, the day after Oggy Knobs were installed. Only damage was ½" scratch on left engine cover. The was easily coloured in with black water proof marker.

I scooped a little out of leading edge of side stand and now, if I ain't sitting on bike it has motor stopped and in first gear.

I'm with Peter, if in doubt, stick the baby in gear before you walk away.

Busgo and Franko told me over a year ago, when I first bought my Busa, to NEVER TAKE THE BUSA FOR GRANTED. Although they probably meant at high speeds, it also applies at low speeds...

Really sorry to hear about the damage.
Hope you're back on the road soon.

Almost exactly what happened to me at Jindy.
I lost balance while pushing the bike back a few feet and rested it so gently on dirt with gravel.
A lot of money for a little mistake.
Bad luck Driller... Cheers,
Pete
