Well said Ruffy, the problem with these other bikes, especially the guys on the gixxer and r1, is that they see a bunch of busa's and they feel they need to prove themselves. My mate on my v-strom was more than happy to ride last and watch. He enjojed the ride, cause at the back, there's no pressure on him.
Mark
Hey Ruffy
I'm absolutely with you on this. I usually ride on my own because some people don't know how to ride in a group. I take a lot of women out on rides, and the first thing I teach them is group courtesy. In the past, if someone has not adhered to the common sense rules, I've stopped the ride and told them to piss off. If I'm leading, I wont have one person jepodise the safety of others. I am Captain Sensible if I am leading the ride, and I am trying to develop self-control when I am not.
For those of you who have met me, I don't look like a girl with any kind of self-control.

Quite right - I am reminded of Boudica with her flaming red hair leading the pack on her chariot.
Statue of her in London Boudica only now your chariot is a busa
I'm amazed how often I get called that..... do you think it is because I go around with a sword?
Its a tough thing group rides because everyone has their own comfort zone for pace.Theirs always some ego out there to make things a bit hairy as well .Let alone so many variables out there on the road. When everyone is so time poor everyone wants to get what they want out of the ride which adds a bit of pressure to the situation as well.Perhaps when an invited guest comes along a firm set of guidelines are laid out to those tagging along.I find track days massively safer as i,ve done many but they can get monotonous and an opportunity to enjoy the countryside very time efficiently is an attractive one.Perhaps bike to bike communication for the leader and the tailgater with a radar spotter up the front?
Well said Ruffy. I wasn't there on the day, but I've ridden with you and respect your ability and skill.
I'm no wowser either and in my younger years (so long ago now) I was always more eager to be near the front. Not these days. I like to be able to watch what the group is up to, so I'm very happy at the rear. Just save me a seat when you arrive and I'll be along shortly.
I'm also not one for the impost of 'rules' but what we lack in comparison to other sites is some ride courtesy guidelines. I suspect the reason we don't have them presently is they've not really been needed. I think someone riding foolishly or dangerously on a busa is a sure recipe for disaster - and the members here respect their massively powerful bikes and treat them with due care.
But perhaps its something to start thinking on.
I know... its really all just common sense. But sometimes, its not common sense that prevails - its a competitive streak, or hormones or that dangerous mix of power on tap and low self-control.
When I read this post originally, my first reaction was relief that none of my friends had been taken down as a result of someone else's off. Yes.... I do have sympathy for the Aprillia rider. He's a fellow rider and a fellow human being - so I feel bad for him and wish him a speedy recovery.
But my mates come first. Regardless of what they're riding.
So thankyou for speaking out Ruffy. I'll ride with you any day.
The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob

Heidi that because like me we have seen you
Cheers Robert
Aren't all Busas Copper & Plated, the others are just all very poor slow ugly copies !!!!!
Just for the record, I'm slower than Astro.
(the stone chips on the front of my bike are evidence that I'm always at the back of the pack)
"sometimes crime does pay"
pan... oh good... its always nice to have someone at the back I can get lost with.
p.s. - I think that has to be the first time ever on this board someone tried to get bragging rights for who's the slowest. You can have that one if you want, I'll stick with my 'the older I get, the better I was' motto. One good thing about getting older, your memory starts lying to you, but you're happy to believe it. The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob
The word has got back to Kev on the R1, and Terry on the Gixxer. There're not happy! Terry didnt say too much, so i am told, just unhappy about it , but Kevy suggested that we were a bunch of wingers, and that he was the best rider in the group that day anyway .
I find that it's interesting, that when some people get critized, instead of just accepting it, and learn from the experiance, all they seem to want to do is call those people names.
Mark
Mark so it was Terry and Kev.
I have ridden with both of these guys many times both are good guys. Obviously I cant comment on what happened that day but generally I'm happy to ride with either bloke.
Kev R1 is a good rider and as quick as most he normally rides quick but safe and within his limits. Terry although he could talk your ear off is normally safe however he has no patience with cars and occasionally goes too far overtaking them. Hell none of us are perfect. I have never seen either do anything silly with other riders.
Normally I try to ride within my limits but there have been a few times where I have overcooked a corner or overtaken a car and half way thru.
Anyway basically what I'm saying is dont give up on em if they had a bad day.
Oh yeah Mark tell em get f****d from me. Bruce
N2O no laughing matter
I,m surprised no one has complained about kawasuki the nutcase.
I did hear something about riders trying to pass others on the inside though, on the road this is crazy.Like they say on a ride day if you think you can ride faster, go round the outside if you can,t you,re not as good as you think you are. This puts only yourself at risk and not those your trying to overtake. Its not a race track anyway.Look at the trees, enjoy the countryside. The ride on the backroad from jindabyne to cooma last year was one of the most enjoyable ever, sunshine,no traffic ,a winding road and cruising with fellow riders. Ray has guns.... need we say more ? The older I get, the better I was. Regards.... Rob
Ditto Bruce, now I know who they are talking about
I have ridden with Terry and Kev a couple of times also, sure they go hard and fast but we all do it sometimes they have never put me in danger, if I'm on a ride with people I don't know or they seen a bit shaky I just give a bit of distance, I'm happy to ride with either of those Guys anytime, but then again I go a bit to fast sometimes anyway
Cheers Robert
