Suzuki warranty worth SHIT

I bought based on eperience/perception of big Suzukis having strong and smooth engine and gearbox. In the case of a Hayabusa being over-engineered and understressed to an extent. Quality control seems worrying i.e. reference to loose clutch bolts elsewhere - to the extent now I will prob ask my mech to inspect them at my expense.

I'm starting to feel uneasy about a lot of cash that I paid out for my 2005 Haybusa. I'd like to think these problems are anomalies - I certainly hope so.

Suzuki's advertising literature market the bike as a flagship, "utlimate" product...shame that the customer care and warranty don't appear to measure up. And I shouldn't have to spend extra on preventative double-checks providing I don't abuse bike and service accordingly.

Well I got the bike back on Saturday morning. I'm still going to be $450 out of pocket as the shop manager in Midland came to the party and paid half the rebuild cost. So I have prepared letters to goto Japan, the MD of Suzuki Aust. the GM of Suzuki Aust and also to Consumer Protection (DOCEP) to lodge an official complaint. One more attempt tomorrow to get them to accept full responsibility and then the letters go out via registered post, at least I was not waiting for 8 weeks to get the bike back, 2 weeks was long enough.

Having said all that, the gearbox is totally different to what it was like, a LOT smoother through the gears, very precise gear changes etc which makes me think the original was defective from day one!

Anayway, many thanks for the support guys, was great to know it wasn't me going mad thinking they should have been fixing it right away.

That's reasonably good news Tim.

You make a good point there about how it felt from new and how it feels after repair.

I believe that the distributer that sells a factory delivered bike should take a short test ride to verify it's pre-delivery condition before the new owner takes possession.
I know that not many other bikers would be keen on that process because we all want the bike to be in pristine condition when we take delivery and there is a certain amount of risk of it being damaged on the road.

I bought a brand new Laverda in the early 70's and the shop where I bought it, disconnected the speedo and rode it into the rego office to get it registered pre delivery to me.
At least I had the benefit of knowing that the mechanic said it was the best bike he had ever ridden before I got my inexperienced mits on it.

P.S. You think Suzuki warranty is bad, try getting anything out of the Italian factories.

A friend of mine had a Kawasaki dealership years ago & every new bike sold was ridden to VicRoads for rego by him personally to check for any problems before the customer took delivery, including my GPz 750 turbo

Better to find any glitches before hand over

Sure does Bill ................ as was said earlier if you think Suzuki are bad .............Kawasaki is non negotiable.
Things were a lot easier when JP was around till some drove him out of here ............. along with many others with much wisdom and knowledge.

Yeah Pete, I see your point.

One thing that they all should remember though is when they sit down at night for dinner, why not spare a thought for the people who put it there........the customers.

Not an issue for me though, I don't buy much new stuff.

Only one new bike in the past 40 odd years

Hate that word depreciation

Hey Bill as in Rev (As Exhilerator has turned to traitor with one also I believe, allready with a fatter than normal ass ?) Suzuki now have a Vmax ............. it's called an M109R Have one in Monday for a remap .............will be innteresting to see the result, just have to widen the door to get the rear tyre in

Well,

I sent some letters out last week to a few people about this whole debarkle. While I was in work yesterday someone from Suzuki rang home and got my sick daughter on the phone, being she was still half asleep the only message I got from her was someone had called, was going to leave a message but then asked what time I'd be home at and said they would call me back then, no phone call, suprised? NOPE!

Then today I got a very interesting call from Consumer Affairs They are on the case and I have been told to 'expect' a call from someone at Suzuki and that they (DOCEP) will call back to see if I had been contacted. They had already been onto the dealer but dunno if they got in contact with Suzuki over east yet.

So thats where it is at. I'm 'waiting' for a phone call Glad DOCEP are willing to go into bat for the consumer, hey thats their job right Plus the guy that I spoke to is a fellow bike rider so perhaps something will happen.. Either way, still waiting and either way still going to be 3pm WST before I am home from work this week..

Will keep you posted.

I't's now on eBay & my biking days are over..... who needs the hassle. It won't be legislation that kills motorcycling....it'll be the manufacturers themselves, offering poor build quality & worse customer service.

Thank you Suzuki for introducing me to the joys of motorcycling many years ago with my first bike.... a GSX 250
And thank you again for killing my passion for bikes 25 years later too. One still born again biker !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
